BEFORE YOU APPLY FOR JOBSEEKER PAYMENTS
(A) DO YOU HAVE A CRN (CUSTOMER REFERENCE NUMBER)?
Do you have a CRN issued by Centrelink?
YES, go to (B).
NO, I do not have a CRN, you no longer need to phone Centrelink directly. You can now go straight to (B).
(B) DO YOU HAVE A MYGOV ACCOUNT?
Do you have a myGov account?
YES, go to (C).
NO, I do not have a myGov account;
(C) LINK YOUR ACCOUNTS
Are your myGov and Centrelink accounts linked?
YES, go to (D).
NO, I do not have both accounts linked. At this time, you do not need to link the accounts yourself. Go to (D).
(D) APPLYING FOR JOBSEEKER PAYMENTS
You can apply if you are unemployed, or if you have had your hours reduced.
[Note: If you are still working but there's a reduction in your hours, you will need a letter from your employer confirming this. If you've lost your job, you will also need an employment separation certificate from every employer you've finished with in the past 12 months.
Online – sign into your myGov account and select "Register intention to claim" and follow the prompts Centrelink will then contact you;
Phoning Centrelink directly (132 850 if you are over 22yrs old), or 132 490 (if you are under 22yrs old); or
In person at Centrelink (this option is not recommended at this time due to social distancing and long queues).
